FAQ

Do I need a designer?

No. You pick one of the template families, upload your logo and set two colors. The templates are built so text stays readable no matter what photo someone uploads, and they adapt automatically to all three formats: post, portrait, story. If you do have a designer, even better: through the custom design path you upload finished PNG frames, and a spec kit with templates and safe zones is included.

What does it cost?

Nothing. The platform is free. Every graphic carries a small "made with" mark, and that's the whole deal. No tiers, no limits, no upsells, no trial that runs out. All features for everyone: unlimited events, custom designs, your own domain, the full dashboard.

Where does the data live?

On our own server in the EU. Database, pages, graphics, statistics: all self-hosted, no cloud services, no data passed to third parties. The single exception is the email delivery service for system mails to you as the organizer. And the most important part: your attendees' photos live nowhere, because they are never uploaded. The graphic is composed entirely in the browser.

Do attendees need an account?

No. Your attendees open the page, load a photo into the browser, pick a frame and save the finished graphic. No login, no email prompt, no cookie banner. Under a minute, one-handed on a phone. Only you as the organizer have an account, so you can edit your page and see your numbers.

Can I use my own frame designs?

Yes. Download the spec kit (PNG templates plus one page with the safe zones), hand it to your designer, and upload the finished PNGs with a transparent window. You can mix templates and your own designs on the same page, up to six frames per event.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Enter your subdomain in the dashboard, say showup.yourevent.com, set the CNAME record we show you at your DNS provider and click "Check now". The certificate is issued automatically. The ShowUp address then redirects to your domain, so links you already shared keep working.

What about GDPR?

The short version: there is almost nothing to explain, because almost nothing is collected. Photos are never uploaded, event pages set no cookies and store no IP addresses, and the statistics consist of anonymous totals with no link to any person. That is why your event page needs no cookie banner. Your data protection officer can verify this in the privacy policy; it describes the architecture, not just a statement of intent. What you bring yourself: your own imprint. Your event page is legally your publication, so you are the responsible party, and German law wants your imprint on it, not ours. That same separation is why there is almost nothing for us to process. A privacy policy link is optional: leave it blank and your page links our shared event-page privacy notice, which covers the technical operation of the page; add your own if you prefer. Without an imprint link you cannot publish.

Do I need a data processing agreement (DPA)?

For your attendees, there is nothing to sign, because their data never reaches us: photos stay in the browser and the event page stores no personal data. The one place data touches us is your own organizer account (your email, your event details) and the email service that delivers system mails to you. If your compliance team wants a DPA / AVV for that part, write to us and we will sort it out. For the attendee-facing side, there is simply no processing to cover.

How long does my page stay live?

As long as you want. Your page is up before, during and after the event. When it is over, you archive it in one click: visitors then see a short farewell note instead of the generator, and you can reopen it anytime. Nothing is deleted unless you delete it.

Which languages can the event page be in?

German or English, set per event in the wizard. The whole attendee page follows that choice: buttons, hints, the pre-written captions. The dashboard you work in stays English. If you run events in both languages, each one gets its own page in its own language.

Can I export my numbers? What happens if I delete my account?

Yes to the export, and deletion is clean. Every event has a CSV export in the dashboard, so your numbers are yours to keep. If you delete your account, your events and their pages go with it, and only the anonymous daily totals remain: they hold no personal data, so there is nothing to tie back to anyone. No dark patterns, no "email us to cancel".

Can I see who downloaded a graphic?

No, and that is by design. We only count anonymous totals: how many visits, how many downloads, which frame how often. Who is behind them, we do not know, and so neither do you. That protects you: no personal data of your attendees on our side, nothing you would have to add to your records of processing or hand over on request. The dashboard numbers cover what matters: is the page working, are people posting, are clicks landing on your ticket link.
